When Sheikh Mansour took over Manchester City in 2008, the club spent a lot of money in a wild way. However, after a few years, the spending became quite logical, and one of the most successful big-money signings was Samir Nasri from Arsenal. Samir Nasri left Arsenal for City in 2011 and played there for six years, winning four awards.

Nasri played 126 games for Arsenal across all competitions before signing with Manchester City, scoring 27 goals and providing 15 assists.
Nasri left Marseille, where he won the Intertoto Cup in 2005, to join Arsenal.

After having given an impressive performance amid the exit of Germany from the World Cup, Jamal Musiala of Bayern Munich has received great praise from Samir Nasri, the former France international on Twitter. Regardless of having defeated Cost Rica, Musiala and Germany had been eliminated from the FIFA World Cup group stages for the second consecutive time as the loss of Spain against Japan cost them the advantage by a differential goal. However, the 19-year-old player was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal performance of Hansi Flick.

Regardless of having drawn with Spain and lost to Japan, they were not able to qualify, but by grabbing a win in their last group match, they can fulfill their part of the agreement. However, they were denied qualifying following yet another triumph of Japan. The former player for Manchester City and Arsenal, Nasri, praised the star player of Bayern on Twitter for having played all 90 minutes in the comeback victory of Germany.

Manchester City’s squad for the 2022/23 season has now been officially confirmed by the Premier League following the end of the summer transfer window. No Premier League squad can contain more than 17 players who do not fulfil the ‘home grown player’ criteria, while the rest of the squad, up to the limit of 25 players, must be ‘home grown’. City have 14 non-home grown players.

A player is ‘home grown’ if they have been registered, irrespective of nationality, to any English club for at least three years before their 21st birthday. In City’s case, Nathan Ake is the only ‘home grown’ player who was not born in the United Kingdom. Each club is also allowed to have a list of registered Under-21 players who are eligible over and above the squad limit of 25 players. Speaking to the media ahead of their Premier League opener against West Ham United, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has hinted that star midfielder Bernardo Silva might be on his way out of the Etihad amidst strong links to Barcelona. Bernardo Silva has been on the radars of Barcelona since last summer, with the Catalans intent on landing the 27-year-old midfielder. Having failed to do so in 2021, the Catalan bigwigs are after the Portuguese international’s services once again this summer, although his signing would be contingent on Frenkie de Jong leaving the club.

Silva, for his part, is believed to be keen on joining Barcelona and is understood to have reached an agreement with the Blaugrana over a potential move already. Manchester City have been standing firm on their stance that the former Benfica and AS Monaco ace is not for sale, with Guardiola himself ruling out an exit in the recent past. However, the Cityzens’ manager has now changed his tune on the future of Silva, admitting that there is a chance that the Portuguese superstar could be on his way out of the Etihad Stadium. Samir Nasri was one of French football’s great talents in the early 2000s, but the playmaker’s career has ended with a whimper despite some impressive early moments. Back in 2004, Samir Nasri was one of a handful of stand-out talents in a stacked field as France looked to the future. Les Bleus beat Spain to win the European Under-17 Championships on home soil, with Nasri’s winner helping see off a Furia Roja squad including the likes of Gerard Pique and Cesc Fabregas.

Nasri’s own teammates, meanwhile, included the likes of Karim Benzema, Hatem Ben Arfa and Jeremy Menez, with half of the 18-man squad going on to play senior international football for France or another country.
Born two days after Lionel Messi, himself on the verge of a senior debut for Barcelona at the time, Nasri was one of the babies of that French squad. Only Benzema and goalkeeper Benoit Costil were younger, and the Marseille prospect would end up making his senior debut just weeks after turning 17. Frenchman Samir Nasri was known for his ball control, dribbling and passing ability during his career. He was compared to French football icon Zinedine Zidane during the early part of his professional football career due to his playing style, cultural background and footballing ability. Nasri began his career at local youth clubs in Marseille before he joined a professional club in French giants Marseille at the age of nine. He spent the next seven years developing in the Marseille youth system. Samir Nasri made his debut for Marseille at the age of 17 during a league game with Sochaux in September 2004. He went on to become an important player in the Marseille starting XI. Nasri played in an European competition for the first time after his participation in the UEFA Cup during the 2005/06 season. Dutchman Wesley Sneijder has gone ‘full Samir Nasri’ with his looks following his appearance at a charity match for Ukraine.Fans drew comparisons between Samir Nasri and the ex-Dutch national team star when he made an appearance during the charity event.

Sneijder called time on his professional football career three years ago on the back of his spell with Al Gharafa in Qatar before he turned up at the aforementioned charity match to raise money for Ukraine who has been hit hard by the invasion of the Russians as masterminded by president Vladimir Putin. Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas recently linked up on Twitter to reminisce on the goal scored against Burnley while they were teammates at Arsenal 12 years ago. Samir Nasri was the assist provider, while Cesc Fabregas was the goalscorer ad the two midfielders combine to give the Gunners the lead after the hour mark on the way to a 3-1 win at home to the Clarets on February 28, 2010.

Twitter account user @Gunnersc0m posted the video of the goal made by Samir Nasri and scored by Cesc Fabregas earlier this week on the occasion of its 12th anniversary and it drew the attention of both Nasri and Fabregas.
Nasri in his reply to the video, reminisced on the quality of football that led to the goal while praising the connection he had with Fabregas while they were at Arsenal.
